Alas, I am a bit late getting this blog post up. But better late than never, right? 🙂
I chose Spring as the topic this week, mainly because I visited Vancouver this past weekend and there were signs of spring everywhere! A welcome site given that the city I live in will have winter for at least another month or more…
Here are my favourites from the VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver. This is one of my favourite gardens of all time – even better than the Butchart Gardens in Victoria since the tour buses haven’t found it yet 😉 It’s also incredibly tranquil – you can feel all of your tension simply melt away when you step through the doors…
A large aperture was used for several of the photos in order to create a shallow depth of field and really blur the background. I also used a Kenko DG Extension Tube set (10 mm + 16 mm) on my little Sony Nex 5N camera for a few of the macro shots since I didn’t have my Nikon camera and its macro lens with me on this trip. Extension tubes shorten the minimal focusing distance and allow you to get closer to the subject – great for macro photography!
